A Forgotten Community

For as long as I can remember, my entire life has involved some sort of motorsport. Both my dad and his dad both rode bikes and soon after, myself and my brother caught the bug. Unfortunately, most people don't share this passion which is causing the sport to become more and more restricted; which inevitably brought our motorsport communities closer together.

I'll never forget that feeling; standing on the start line, heart throbbing so fast I can hear it, legs feel like jelly, my stomach spinning, everything in slow motion. When the green flag goes up, the roar of the some 50 engines charging at the first corner gives you such an adrenaline rush. A feeling shared throughout the enduro community from mothers; heart in mouth as their kids disappear over the hill, to the boys in the burger van. The combined smell of dust and bacon baps fills the air for the start of another exhilarating race day.

The project draws inspiration from Spencer Murphy's 'Urban Dirt Bikers', Claudia Agati's 'Wild Bunch' and Aron Klein's 'Petrol Heads' to name a few. Shot on a Mamiya RZ67, this project brings the audience closer to a small community; representative of a global one, providing a raw perspective of this community's spirit and determination as ordinary people with unconventional hobbies.
